LearnLedger browser extension · Effective 15 September 2026

The short version: LearnLedger keeps your learning record on your own device. We don't run servers that receive your data. We don't sell, share or look at it, and we never use it for advertising.

What LearnLedger handles and why

DataWhyWhere it goes
URL, page title, meta description and first heading of pages on supported learning sites (or any site, if you turn on smart detection)To tell whether a page is study material and suggest its subject and topicStays in your browser
Active study time (whether the tab is visible, whether a video is playing, whether you've recently scrolled, clicked or typed)To count real study time rather than time a tab was open. Individual clicks, keystrokes and mouse positions are never recorded, only a "recently active" yes/no.Stays in your browser
Topics you confirm, notes and flashcards you write, recall-check answers and scores, settingsTo build your ledger, score retention and schedule revisionStays in your browser

For pages that don't look like study material, LearnLedger keeps nothing once the tab is closed. Sites like email, social media and streaming services are ignored completely.

Where your data is stored

Everything is saved with Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage) on your device. It isn't synced to any LearnLedger server, because there isn't one. If you export a backup (JSON or CSV), that file goes wherever you save it.

What we don't do

Permissions

Your control

You can pause tracking, ignore any site, export your data, or delete all of it from Settings at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes all its stored data from Chrome.

Children and students

LearnLedger is designed for students, including teenagers. Because data never leaves the device and we collect no personal data, we don't receive any information about children. If a future version adds optional accounts or sync, we will update this policy first and ask for any consent required by law (including parental consent where required) before collecting anything.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above and describe the change in the extension's release notes.
